This conference is co-organized by the Committee on Basic Theory of Early Childhood Education, China Natioanl of Early Childhood Education and the Journal of Early Childhood Education, Information Center of Social Sciences, Renmin Univeristy of China. Among them, the Committee on Basic Theory of Early Childhood Education is mainly responsible for providing academic guidance, and the Journal of Early Childhood Education is responsible for publishing conference papers.
Brief Introduction of Organizing Committee
School of Education, HZNU
The School of Education is one of the leading schools in Hangzhou Normal University. Its history can be traced back to the Zhejiang Two-level Normal School first established in 1908. Over the past 100 years, education forerunners such as Jing Hengyi, Ma Xulun, Li Shutong, Lu Xun, etc, pioneered teaching at this Government School. The School has trained numerous intellectual leaders such as Ma Xulun, Wang Lingzhi, Feng Zikai, Pan Tianshou, and Rou Shi etc., and cultivated over 100,000 talents who become major forces of educational reform and innovation in China, such as Lu Xingwei, Zhu Xuedan, Luo Yunxian, Zhang Tianxiao, Yang Yiqing etc. Being the most prestigious training base for both kindergarten and elementary school teachers in Zhejiang Province, the school enjoys wide acclaim. Its graduates work in all walks of life throughout the country.
At present, the school has more than 190 full-time teaching and administrative staff members, among whom 60% are professors and associate professors, 60% hold doctoral degrees and 40% have overseas study/work experience. The school of education now has five top scholars who have either attended the “National Thousand Talents Project” or been honored as one of the “National Excellent Young Scholars”. It now has over 1900 registered undergraduates, and over 450 postgraduates.
The School of Education has two academic master-accredited disciplines—Master of Education, and Master of Psychology, and two applied master-accredited fields—Master of Education and Master of Applied Psychology. Both Education and Psychology disciplines have been approved as first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province during the “13th Five-Year Plan in China. In particular, Education Discipline is listed as one of the Privileged and Distinctive Disciplines of Specially-Developed Universities in Zhejiang Province in the second group.
The School of Education currently offers five undergraduate programs: Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Technology, Applied Psychology, Special Education. The School of Education is the only school in Zhejiang Province to launch The Reform Project of Training Program for Excellent Elementary Education Teachers. Elementary Education program is among the first group of undergraduate majors in China, and a privileged major of Zhejiang Province during the “12th Five-Year Plan ” and “13th Five-Year Plan” period. It has passed second-level authentication of teacher education majors hosted by Ministry of Education of China in 2018. Besides, during the “13th Five-Year Plan in China”, Early childhood education is listed as one of the privileged majors in Zhejiang Province period, Special Education is one of the new majors of Zhejiang province, and Educational Technology is one of the innovative teacher education majors of Zhejiang province.
The School of Education has established a series of provincial and university-based research centers including the Graduate School of Educational Science, Graduate School of Psychological Science, Institute of Psychological Health, Institute of Cognitive and Brain Diseases, Institute of Teacher Development, Institute of Educational Evaluation for Elementary and Secondary Schools, Institute of “Prestigious Teachers of Zhejiang School”, and the Center of Psychological Crisis Intervention for universities students in Zhejiang Province. It also owns many scientific labs with high-reputation such as the Lab of Educational Technology, the Lab of Psychology, the Lab of Brain and Cognitive Science, The Lab of Science, the Lab of Teachers’ behavior Training. The Key Laboratory of Cognitive Impairment Assessment Technology is one of key labs in Zhejiang Province. The Training Center of Teaching Skills is the Provincial Experimental Center of Teaching Demonstration.

Tencent Center for Internet & Society was established in July 2011. Internet and social studies are the frontier areas where modern science and technology and social humanities converge. Tencent center for internet and society focuses on Internet industry economy, social culture, laws and regulations, and public policies, and supports third-party organizations to conduct Internet and social public research through cooperation, creating rational and constructive value for the Internet industry. Strive to build an open, forward-looking, constructive and public welfare research platform for the Internet and society, and create a benign, healthy and sustainable ecological environment for the Internet industry. Its research fields include the frontier thoughts of information and network technology, the deep influence of science and technology on social form, social organization and social behavior, the construction of information society and new commercial civilization, the shaping of public space and the social significance of virtual space, legal system and social norms, the influence and evaluation on daily life and culture, social interaction, communication and transaction behavior, knowledge diffusion, organization and aggregation, etc.
The International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH)Chair Collaboration Office
The International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH) Chair Collaboration Office was established under the joint authorization of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences and Hangzhou Normal University(HZNU). It aims to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between Hangzhou Normal University and the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences and its global partners, to jointly promote the "New Humanities” with the characteristic of interdisciplinary child studies (including education, psychology, history, foreign language literature, art, etc.) , and therefore develop HZNU into a leading research center for humanistic studies both nationally and internationally.
The office is permanently set up in the School of Education in HZNU, and jointly managed by the School of Education and the CIPSH. The office is generally directed by Professor Hsiung Ping-chen, a distinguished professor of the School of Education in HZNU, the CIPSH Chair of New Humanities in the University of California, Irvine.
The School of Education appoints Dr. Gao Zhen-yu as the executive sectary to assist Professor Hsiung for managing routine matters , communicating with CIPSH and its global partner universities, and also participating in the academic researches together. The office also has one staff for handling university-related administrative work and the organization of seminars, meetings and conferences. Hangzhou Normal University has built a cross-school research team for the office to apply and implement local, national and international humanistic projects.
China National Society of Early Childhood Education
China National Society of Early Childhood education (CNSECE) is certified by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, under the governance and guidance of the Ministry of Education. As a national academic society, CNSECE currently has more than 20281 individual members and 1081 corporative members, among which are 38 provincial-level Early Childhood Education Societies around China. There have been seven branches of CNSECE including Early Childhood Health Education Committee, Play and Toys Committee, Early Childhood Management Committee, Kindergarten Curriculum and Learning Committee, Early Childhood Social Education Committee, Early Childhood Teachers’ Professional Development Committee and Early Childhood Principal Theories Committee. Meanwhile, CNSECE is also a group member of OMEP and has a OMEP China Committee.
The core responsibility of CNSECE is to comprehensively implement the national guidelines and policies on early childhood education, to unite and lead the early childhood educators to explore the law of child development, to conduct the research for solving theoretical and practical problems of early childhood education, and to make positive contributions to promoting the development of early childhood education, improving the quality of education, and promoting the healthy growth of young children.
Over the years, CNSECE has persisted in carrying out various forms of academic research activities. In particular, since 2001, it has organized members to carry out research of the national “10th Five Year Plan” “11th Five Year Plan” “12th Five Year Plan” and "13th five year plan", which has played a positive role in promoting mass education and scientific research. In this way, CNSECE improves the quality of early childhood education.
CNSECE Members actively participated in the activities of the annual academic meeting, and the number of papers submitted and its participants have increased over the years. The various professional committees of CNSECE regularly carry out rich academic activities in different research fields, providing a platform for theoretical learning and experience sharing among members. It has become an important way for CNSECE to gather experts, unite members and serve practice.
Over the past decade, CNSECE and its professional committees have successively undertaken a number of research projects by national departments, such as the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Children's Fund. They have become the think tank of China's early childhood education policy-making, been dedicated to leading China's kindergarten curriculum reform, teachers' professional development, and achieved many high-level and influential research results. In recent years, CNSECE has integrated the source of all parties to strengthen the compulsory training of early childhood teachers from ethnic minority areas and Western China.
In 2013, OMEP China Committee successfully held the 65th World OMEP Conference, and carried out various exchange activities to increase international visibility of China's early child education reform and practices. Over the years the Journal of CNSECE ( Preschool Education Research) has continuously improved to promote the exchange and the transmission of early childhood education theory and experience. Recently CNSECE has been strengthening its efforts and means of information service. Through the "China Early Child Education Research Network", the WeChat public official account and CNSECE newsletter, more professional and convenient services are provided for the majority of early childhood educators, and a closer relationship is produced between the CNSECE and its members.
Journal of Early Childhood Education, Information Center of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China
Founded in 1981, Journal of Early Childhood Education sponsored by Renmin
University of China and headed by the Ministry of Education, is a core journal in the field of early childhood education in China, and belongs to the Book and Newspaper Information Center of Renmin University of China, an authoritative periodical publishing institution in China. Guide to Early Childhood Education magazine has always followed the aim of "learning-oriented, serving teaching and scientific research", "selecting thousands of newspapers and magazines, gathering Chinese academics", and edited and published a high-quality and high-level academic information material in the field of preschool education in China-Guide to Early Childhood Education Journal, which is currently responsible for the evaluation of academic journals and teaching and scientific research achievements in preschool education in China. Journal distribution ranks in the forefront of the national preschool education journals, with tens of thousands of kindergartens, teaching and research sections of the Education Bureau, preschool teaching and research sections of the Academy of Sciences, universities and other reader groups, and has a high social reputation. The Guide to Early Childhood Education includes many journals, among which the Guide to Early Childhood Education (Educational Science) is the core guiding journal of early childhood education theory, which mainly provides policy theory and research theoretical results of early childhood education for preschool education experts, teaching researchers and expert kindergarten directors in colleges and universities. Guide to Preschool Education (Teacher Teaching) is the growth digest of professional teachers, which provides kindergarten directors, backbone teachers, preschool education cadres of Education Bureau and teaching and research staff with comprehensive information and methods of preschool education frontier theory, teaching and research experience, kindergarten reform and management, and helps directors, teachers and preschool education theoretical workers to grow professionally.
