My name is Wang Chen. I am a second-year graduate student of Hangzhou Normal University. I’m majoring in Educational Technology. My major research interests include maker-education and outdoor learning.

Reasons for participation:

I’m very interested in the internship position. I see it as a great opportunity to work with international advisors and peers from different cultural and academic background in a global environment, which, I believe, will allow me to learn to think and understand things from different ways, and have deeper insights into cross-culture communication, and most important, allow me to serve greater academic community. Having been studying in teacher education program for more than 5 years, I find working in the Humanities area is fascinating. For both undergraduate and master's program, I major in Educational Technology, so I am quite confident in ICT, which might be helpful to work and communicate remotely with colleagues from different locations in this special pandemic time. My previous experience of being the class monitor and student union leaders has given me great opportunity to work collaboratively with different individuals and teams, so I think I am capable of interpersonal communication skills and team collaboration. In a word, I would be very grateful if I will be given the challenging yet exciting opportunity to serve the larger academic community with my great enthusiasm, at the same time, to learn in an international context.

Yang Yu

Self-Introduction:

My name is Yang Yu. I was born in Hangzhou, where I consider is the most beautiful city in China. So when I decided to pursue a master degree, I resolutely chose to return to my hometown and study in Hangzhou Normal University. My major is early childhood education, and this fall semester is the beginning of the second-year of my postgraduate study.

During the past few years, I’ve spent most of my time on study education and have been interested in child studies and humanity studies for a long time, not only reading some books on philosophy for children, Prof. Hsiung’s books on the history of children and childhood, but also participating my supervisor Prof. Gao Zhenyu’s projects of Philosophy for Children in several kindergartens. I’ve also accumulated working experience of helping organizing meetings and conferences focusing on child studies and education both online and on campus. I also served as a deputy minister of Quality Expansion Department during my undergraduate period.

As to the English skills, I have kept practicing my oral English, and passed on CET6. Meanwhile, I’ve helped my supervisor translate some English book chapters (philosophy for young children,it’s a practical guide for teacher in school) and experts’ lectures into Chinese.

Generally speaking, my biggest advantage is that I have a very open mind with a strong sense of empathy. I can think for others as much as I can, which enables me to collaborate well with others. Also I am able to work under pressure,when I have some negative mood. I can release the pressure by hitting the gym. At last, I’m sure I’m qualified for this position, and I sincerely hope you can give me this precious opportunity.

Reasons for participation

I have been in Zhejiang for nearly 20 years, and I have only been traveling abroad for vacation. I really hope to work in a different environment. Being exposed to different cultures, I can get a clear picture of the way other people live. Work experience overseas can also broaden my horizons about the world and lead me to a more objective attitude. I can be able to view things indifferent ways and from different cultural angles. I am a very careful, patient person, friendly and computer literate, and I am confident that I will be able to adapt to the CIPSH internship.
